GT-A is an architectural practice established in 2021 with offices in both Nara, Japan, and Torino, Italy. The studio is co-founded by Giacomo Tomidei and Rika Tanaka, whose combined international experiences and expertise drive the firm’s innovative and culturally enriched design approach.

Giacomo Tomidei’s distinguished career spans several esteemed architecture firms around the globe. He began his professional journey at Studio Rolla in Torino, Italy, where he developed a solid foundation in Italian architectural traditions and contemporary design. Tomidei then expanded his horizons at Atelier du Pont in Paris, France, where he embraced creative and functional European architectural styles. His work with Elemental and Alejandro Aravena in Santiago, Chile, allowed him to gain invaluable experience in socially-driven and sustainable design. Finally, his tenure at Sou Fujimoto Architects in Tokyo, Japan, enriched his understanding of minimalism and the integration of architecture with nature.

Rika Tanaka, the other half of GT-A, brings a wealth of knowledge and innovation from her background in renowned Japanese firms after her study in University of Texas at San Antonio. Her experience at IAO Takeda Architect involved meticulous and thoughtful design solutions, while her work with Sou Fujimoto Architects reinforced a dedication to minimalist aesthetics and environmental harmony. Tanaka’s expertise enhances GT-A’s capability to deliver designs that are both avant-garde and deeply respectful of their cultural context.

Together, Tomidei and Tanaka blend their diverse experiences to create architectural solutions that are both pioneering and practical. GT-A Architecture Studio is committed to crafting spaces that enhance and harmonize with their environments, drawing from the rich architectural traditions of both Eastern and Western cultures.
